Service and Applications Engineer

Aberlink Ltd are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated Service and Applications Engineer to support their range of metrology products throughout the UK.

This position will offer a varied and challenging role with significant responsibility, including: repair service and calibration of Aberlink CMMs and could also include overseas travel supporting foreign agents and training customers if these additional aspects job aspects appeal.

Ideally working out of our head office in Stroud, Gloucestershire, you will be required to travel extensively within the UK.

Previous CMM experience would be advantageous, although not essential, as full training would be given. The successful candidate will have a good understanding of mechanical engineering and problem solving. Some knowledge of motion control would also be useful.

Due to the nature of the position, this is not a 9-5 role. It will also require good communication skills to create the right impression as the face of Aberlink.

Other roles could include assisting with the set up and break down of exhibitions, and the ability to perform demonstrations of the equipment to potential customers.

A full driving licence will be essential.

Regional sales manager - North of England and Wales

Aberlink Limited is the largest UK owned manufacturer of coordinate measuring machines (CMMs). Due to the retirement of the previous regional sales manager, we have a fantastic opportunity for a sales professional to represent us in the north of England and Wales.

The area stretches from North Yorkshire to Stoke-on-Trent and Anglesey to Doncaster, including the Isle of Man. Aberlink holds a considerable market share, with 100s of satisfied customers (reference sites) in the north of England.

Key Information

  • Job Title: Regional Sales Manager
  • Reporting to: Sales Director
  • Location: Working from home
  • Requirement to travel: Frequent, as per business needs
  • Overnight stays: Infrequent, as per business needs
  • Driving Licence: Essential
  • Hours of work: An average of 40 hours a week, as per business needs
  • Remuneration/benefits: Base salary of £40k + competitive OTE of £20k+, bring total potential earnings, but not limited, to £60k + company car + 28 days holiday rising with service (Including bank holidays) + contributory pension scheme + all business expenses paid.

Role overview

  • To generate new CMM business from the area of responsibility through direct customer contact and liaison.
  • To determine which Aberlink solution best suits the customer requirements through direct contact and liaison.
  • To ensure an accurate quotation is created by the sales director that matches the customer requirements.
  • To follow up the quotation until the customer order is received.
  • To create and maintain a sales pipeline that ensures the annual sales targets and achieved, if not exceeded.
  • To represent Aberlink with the utmost professionalism across all aspects of direct customer contact and liaison.

Requirements

  • Must have previously sold to engineering companies on the area for a minimum of 3 years.
  • Must have a proven track record in growing sales to engineering companies on the area.
  • Must be highly self-motivated, energetic and have a positive disposition.
  • Must be able to determine customer requirements, through effective listening, and then convey these exact requirements to the sales director so that an accurate quotation can be presented to the customer.
  • Must have excellent communication skills (both oral and written), with an ability to communicate across various levels of the business.

Desirable skills

  • Previous experience selling metrology products to engineering companies on the area.
