Established in 1993 in Lanark, Central Scotland, over the past 24 years Martin Aerospace has developed into a respected supplier of precision manufactured products to the global aerospace and quality critical industries. Martin Aerospace manufacture a wide range of components, from relatively simple parts to the production of components with complex geometrical shapes, on the company's advanced five-axis machine tools.
Working from a challenging remit to create an inexpensive, accurate, easy to use, CNC driven CMM that could stand-up to the rigours of harsh operating environments and be able to undertake rapid automated measuring routines, it took less than two years for the demanding brief to be achieved. To help ensure that the CMM delivered on all of its aims, prior to launch an early Xtreme model was situated on the shop floor of what was considered a typical target user, North Devon based Jamestan Engineering.
Established nearly 50 years ago, Middlesex based Leemark Engineering, remains a family run subcontract Precision Engineering business. The AS9100 approved company supplies high-quality machined components to a variety of demanding sectors, primarily the aerospace industry, but also the pharmaceutical, satellite communications and motor sport sectors.
Porvair Filtration Group, an international leader in the supply of high performance, innovative materials and solutions for applications in filtration and separation, recently identified the need for a CNC Coordinate Measuring Machine that could satisfy a list of challenging requirements. The answer to the company's exacting needs was provided by an Aberlink Axiom too CMM, fitted with an advanced Renishaw PH20 5-axis touch-trigger system. Ideal for Porvair's needs, the PH20's unique 'head touches' allow measurement points to be taken by moving only the head rather than the CMM structure.
